I&#8217;m two days too late to get in on the amazing Lumia 900. After test driving the Lumia 900 I felt officially bored of my phone. I mean yeah the iPhone is more or less perfect but I miss the fresh feeling of the UI. Like when iOS 4 first came out I was amazed but now iOS really does feel stale. The Lumia breathes innovation: large screen, WP7, and a fresh design (ok well I guess 2 years old with the 800). I think I just want to be enticed again. While my iPad 2 was definitely a keeper (64GB Black) that retina display on the new iPad was really intriguing. I mean I only really use my iPad to read school documents and books so I found it worth it to upgrade. It has a noticeable heft to it compared to the old iPad. Actually the new tapering of the new iPad plus the extra heft make it feel much more expensive than the iPad 2. The camera on the back is a nice 5MP shooter but you can’t really tell on that retina display which makes almost all SD content you own look like they were taken on a RAZR. The resolution of the screen is just insanity. Thats actually the first thing I said when I turned on the screen for the first time, “Wow”. HD videos really pull you in, too bad Netflix hasn’t quite supported HD Video streaming yet! In fact, all of the old iPad apps are really going to need updates to support the ultra high resolution but looking at the results of Real Racing 2, the wait will be worth the jaw dropping crystal clear graphics. The battery life is great when the screen is at half brightness, but it takes forever to charge. Forget those quick charges you used to do on the iPad 2, they just aren’t possible on this chunky 75% bigger battery. And all those heat problems people are talking about? I just am not feeling the heat! </p> <p>Is it worth the upgrade? Yeah, more or less. I’ll give you some time to wait for more high resolution apps to be released, but this is definitely a game changer. The screen alone is a reason to upgrade, let alone the quad-core graphics, 5 element lens 5MP shooter, and the bluetooth 4. Recently I caught a sale on Amazon.com listing 8GBs of Apple RAM for $39.99 and I felt obliged to upgrade. It was the best decision I&#8217;ve made in a long time. </p> <p>Weirdly, I was actually used to my MacBook being slow, I was using my speedy iPhone and iPad to replace more than half of its tasks. Now I really want to use my MacBook all the time. Ok, so this rant is probably lame to you new MacBook Pro owners but this speed is crazy for me! I think Lion on standard needs 4GB to run properly, but 8GB really is the smoothest Lion experience.
